Why can a Quppy transaction be delayed or rejected?

A Quppy transaction can be delayed, placed under review, returned or rejected because of payment-route rules, blockchain confirmations, incorrect details, security controls, transaction limits, provider availability, sanctions or AML/CFT checks, Travel Rule information, source-of-funds questions, or a technical incident. A pending or rejected status does not identify one specific cause, and Quppy may be legally unable to disclose every internal risk indicator.

What do the main transaction statuses mean?

Status labels can differ by product and provider. In general:

StatusGeneral meaning
PendingSubmitted but not yet completed
ProcessingBeing handled by Quppy, a provider, payment rail or blockchain
Under reviewAdditional security or compliance assessment is taking place
CompletedThe service recorded the operation as completed
ReturnedFunds were sent back or are being sent back
RejectedThe transaction was not accepted for processing or completion
FailedA technical, routing or validation failure prevented completion
CancelledThe operation was cancelled before completion where cancellation was possible

The status shown in the current Quppy interface and provider record prevails over this general explanation.

Why can a fiat transfer be delayed?

Possible reasons include:

  • beneficiary name, account number, IBAN, sort code or reference requires correction;
  • the chosen payment route is not available for the transaction;
  • the receiving or sending institution is not eligible for the instant route;
  • a cut-off, weekend, holiday or operating window affects processing;
  • a payment provider or correspondent institution is reviewing the transfer;
  • the amount exceeds an available limit;
  • the currency or direction is not enabled;
  • the sender or beneficiary is in a restricted category;
  • source-of-funds or invoice evidence is required;
  • sanctions, fraud or AML/CFT screening creates an alert;
  • a payment rail, provider or receiving institution has a technical issue;
  • the beneficiary bank returns or rejects the payment.

Quppy does not guarantee that every payment described as “instant” at scheme level will complete instantly for every customer or transaction.

Why can a crypto deposit or withdrawal be delayed?

Possible reasons include:

  • insufficient blockchain confirmations;
  • network congestion;
  • an incorrect or unsupported asset or network;
  • missing memo, tag or reference;
  • a deposit below a supported minimum, if a minimum applies;
  • security or fraud review;
  • Travel Rule information is incomplete;
  • the originator, beneficiary, external wallet or VASP requires clarification;
  • source-of-funds evidence is required;
  • the provider is assessing a high-risk address or transaction;
  • a withdrawal is waiting for transaction confirmation or 2FA;
  • the relevant asset or service is temporarily paused;
  • the external platform has not broadcast or credited the transaction.

A blockchain explorer showing “confirmed” does not automatically prove that a custodial provider has completed all crediting and compliance steps.

Why can an exchange be delayed or rejected?

An exchange can be unavailable or rejected when:

  • the selected pair is not supported for the user’s country;
  • an asset is regionally restricted, such as USDT in the EEA;
  • the quote expired;
  • the balance changed before confirmation;
  • a minimum, maximum or limit applies;
  • liquidity or provider availability changed;
  • the account requires additional verification;
  • the operation triggers a security or compliance review;
  • the service provider cannot execute the order under its terms.

The final executable rate, amount and applicable costs are those shown before confirmation, not an earlier indicative website value.

What information can Quppy ask for?

Depending on the review:

  • purpose of payment;
  • invoice, contract or order;
  • relationship with the sender or beneficiary;
  • source of funds or source of wealth;
  • beneficiary details;
  • external wallet address and transaction hash;
  • name of the sending or receiving crypto platform;
  • confirmation that a self-hosted wallet is owned or controlled by the relevant person;
  • originator and beneficiary information required by the Travel Rule;
  • updated identity or business documents;
  • explanation of unusual or changed activity.

Provide only what is requested through an approved channel.

Why can Quppy not give me every reason?

In some reviews, detailed disclosure could:

  • reveal fraud-detection or transaction-monitoring methods;
  • enable circumvention of sanctions or AML/CFT controls;
  • disclose confidential third-party information;
  • conflict with legal reporting restrictions;
  • compromise an investigation;
  • expose another provider’s protected decision criteria.

Support should still explain what action the user can take when disclosure is permitted, such as supplying a missing document or correcting transfer details.

What should I do when a transaction is pending?

  1. Check the exact status in Quppy.
  2. Verify the asset, network, payment route and destination.
  3. Check whether the app requests an action or document.
  4. For crypto, locate the transaction hash and review whether it was broadcast.
  5. For fiat, preserve payment confirmation and beneficiary details.
  6. Do not repeat the transaction until you know whether the first one will complete or return.
  7. Contact official Support with the transaction reference if no action or status explanation is available.

Never post identity documents, account details, wallet addresses linked to your identity, or transaction evidence publicly.

What happens after a transaction is rejected?

Depending on the operation:

  • no funds may have left the account;
  • reserved funds may be released;
  • a fiat transfer may be returned;
  • a crypto withdrawal may never be broadcast;
  • an incoming transfer may be returned to the sender;
  • an exchange may simply not execute.

Crypto already sent on a blockchain usually cannot be cancelled or reversed by Quppy. A rejected credit for an unsupported deposit does not guarantee recovery.

How long can a review take?

Quppy does not publish one guaranteed time for every transaction review. Timing can depend on:

  • transaction type and amount;
  • payment rail or blockchain;
  • provider and counterparty;
  • documents and response time;
  • jurisdiction;
  • complexity of the source of funds;
  • Travel Rule data;
  • involvement of another bank, PSP, CASP or authority.

Support should not promise a deadline unless an approved service-specific SLA applies.

FAQ

Does a pending status mean my funds are lost?

No. It means the operation is not yet recorded as completed. Check whether action is required and contact Support when appropriate.

Does a rejected transaction mean I did something illegal?

No. Rejection can result from eligibility, technical, routing, limit, provider or compliance reasons.

Can Quppy cancel a blockchain transfer?

A transfer already broadcast and confirmed on a blockchain normally cannot be cancelled or reversed.

Should I submit the transaction again?

Not until you know whether the first transaction will complete, fail or return. Repeating it can create a duplicate operation.

Why is a confirmed crypto deposit not credited?

The provider may still require enough confirmations, network validation, Travel Rule information or compliance review.

Can an instant payment be delayed?

Yes. Eligibility, provider checks, receiving-institution support and technical conditions can affect processing.

Will Support tell me the exact risk rule?

Not always. Some monitoring and legal-reporting details cannot be disclosed.

How long does a review take?

There is no universal guaranteed review time.

Explanatory note

This article explains the current Quppy product and compliance configuration. The applicable Quppy and service-provider terms, country eligibility rules, privacy notices and information shown in the app prevail if they differ from this article.

Verification and compliance

Why am I being asked about source of funds?

A source-of-funds check helps Quppy or the applicable service provider understand where the fiat money or crypto used for a particular transaction or account activity came from and whether that origin is consistent with the customer profile and lawful use of the service. The check can be requested during onboarding or later and can require an explanation supported by documents or blockchain evidence.

Verification and compliance

What is the crypto Travel Rule?

The crypto Travel Rule is a regulatory requirement for crypto-asset service providers to collect, verify where required, transmit and retain information about the originator and beneficiary of a crypto transfer. In the European Union, Regulation (EU) 2023/1113 applies to covered crypto transfers from 30 December 2024. It can require Quppy’s applicable provider to ask who is sending or receiving crypto, which provider or self-hosted address is involved, and in some cases for evidence of wallet ownership or control.

Verification and compliance

Why do I need to provide information about an external wallet?

Quppy or the applicable crypto-service provider may ask for information about an external wallet to identify the sender or beneficiary, determine whether the address is self-hosted or managed by another provider, comply with the Travel Rule, assess sanctions and AML/CFT risk, and confirm that the asset and network are supported. The request can apply to deposits and withdrawals and never requires you to disclose a private key or seed phrase.

Crypto wallet and transfers

Why is my crypto transaction pending or under review?

A crypto transaction can remain pending because it is waiting for blockchain confirmations, the external platform has not completed processing, the applicable provider is processing it, or a security, compliance or Travel Rule review is required. “Pending” and “under review” are not the same as “failed.” Check the transaction status and evidence before contacting Support.
