What does a custodial wallet mean?

In a custodial wallet model, a crypto-service provider holds and administers the supported crypto-assets for the client under the provider’s service terms and regulatory permissions. The user accesses the service through an account interface rather than directly controlling a self-custody private key.

Through Quppy, eligible users can view supported balances, receive and send crypto, and request exchange operations. The applicable provider performs the custody, exchange or crypto-transfer service.

Important:

Quppy Crypto must not be described as a non-custodial, decentralised or self-custody wallet. Legacy Save Wallet, Spend Wallet, seed-phrase or private-key-import claims must not be used for the current product.

Who holds and administers my crypto?

EEA accounts

For eligible users under an EEA service configuration, applicable custody, exchange and crypto-transfer services available through Quppy are provided by Payhound Limited, a Malta-based Crypto-Asset Service Provider authorised under MiCA by the Malta Financial Services Authority.

Accounts outside the EEA

Outside the EEA, the applicable licensed or registered crypto-service provider depends on the user’s jurisdiction. Its legal name, regulatory status, role and service terms must be shown before crypto services are activated.

Note:

Quppy provides the connected technology and user experience. Quppy must not be presented as the holder of a partner’s licence or as the legal custodian when the provider performs custody.

Who provides Quppy crypto services in the EEA?

Do I control a private key or receive a seed phrase?

The current Quppy Crypto product is not presented as self-custody. Account access and recovery are handled through Quppy’s account-security and support processes rather than through a user-managed recovery phrase as the primary product model.

Never share a PIN, 2FA code, password or any sensitive recovery information with another person. Quppy Support should not ask a user to disclose a private key or seed phrase.

Important:

If any legacy Quppy page still states that the current crypto product is decentralised or that only a seed phrase can restore access, it must be updated, redirected or archived before this article is published.

What can I do with the custodial wallet?

  • Hold supported digital assets.
  • Receive supported assets from compatible external wallets.

  • New-device confirmation.

How is account access recovered?

If you lose access to your device or account, contact Quppy Support. Recovery is handled through a support-led security and identity-verification process.

Quppy may request additional information and temporarily restrict sensitive operations while the request is reviewed. Recovery time depends on the circumstances, the information provided and the checks required to protect the account.

What are the main custodial-wallet risks?

  • The service depends on the applicable provider’s operational and regulatory framework.
  • Access can be restricted or reviewed for security, compliance or legal reasons.
  • Crypto-assets can be volatile and may lose value.
  • External blockchain transfers normally cannot be reversed.
  • Using the wrong asset, network or address can result in permanent loss.
